“Scan & Populate” solutions would be more accurately described as “Scan, Verify & Populate”. That’s because it’s a best practice to verify the accuracy of OCR’d source document data before it gets exported to tax software. Verifying OCR’d data can be time consuming and impacts your overall efficiency. In this session we’ll discuss several options for verifying OCR’d data including having it done by non-professional staff (temps, admin, etc.), interns, tax professionals and third party outsourcers and compare them in terms of:
• Automation and efficiency
• Workflow
• Training and implementation

Previously, Dave was CEO of SurePrep, an end-to-end tax automation solution for tax professionals and taxpayers that he founded in 2002. Prior to SurePrep, Dave founded and was CEO of ePace! Software, a leading audit software package that was acquired by CCH in 2001, now called ProSystem fx Engagement. He started his career as a CPA with PwC. 

Dave earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of California at Santa Barbara.
